MOZART Hardware Workshop at EPFL

On December 10–11, 2024, the MOZART Hardware Workshop was held at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The event brought together several researchers from consortium partners EPFL, IT University of Copenhagen (ITU), Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) and Brno University of Technology (BUT) to collaborate on developing innovative robotic modules.

Workshop highlights

Over two days, participants focused on:

  • Assembling and testing advanced robotic modules inspired by origami.
  • Sharing knowledge on manufacturing techniques and software development.

Key outcomes

The workshop resulted in:

  • Fully assembled robotic modules equipped with advanced motion and sensing capabilities.
  • New designs and control systems shared among partners to enhance collaboration.

Next steps

In light of the workshop outcomes, in the next months MOZART activities will focus on:

  • Developing tools to visualise key operational processes in virtual and augmented reality.
  • Demonstrating how the newly built robotic modules can work together.

This workshop represents a significant step forward in achieving the MOZART project’s goal of combining robotics and digital innovation for soft, heterogeneous object handling.

Stay tuned for more updates as the project continues to grow!
